Rodenators, Warrenaters, BurrowBlasters, Tunnel Busters, Varmitgetters, WarrenBlasters, BurrowBlast? What are they?

Who makes them?

There seems to be only 3 manufacturers of these types of products operating in the USA and UK.

They are:

Rodenator (USA)

Varmitgetter (USA)
Warrenater (UK)

There is fierce rivalry between these companies mainly due to the limited size of the market for these products. Although Varmitgetter have made claims to certain uses of their technolgy there does not appear to be any patents or designs registered to support any claims. A search does not reveal any other restrictive IP relating to the manufacture of Burrow Blaster type products.

Rodenator(USA): Our research indicates that the Rodenator was the first conceived in early 2002. It was the first 'modern day' product of this kind to be used in America for Gophers. It proved to be popular in America where blowing up little ground hogs and gophers developed into a sport. The handheld aspects of the device that proved so popular in America did not go down well in the U.K. and Health and Safety issues made worse by the introducion of competing products forced Rodenator to modify the unit to make it safer.

Varmitgetter(USA): The Varmitgetter was conceived in early 2004. It is believed to have been developed by an ex Rodenator Operator. Varmitgetter made some safety improvements over the Rodenator product by putting some distance between the device and the Operator. The Varmitgetter was introduced into the U.K. markets through a distributor - RPCS in Feb 2008. Varmitgetter has been absent from the U.K. market since Feb 2009. This is due to an ongoing dispute between the parties that started in February 2009 and which lasted more then 2 years.

Warrenater (U.K.) The Warrenater was introduced to the U.K. market in April 2009. It was the first British Made product to reach the market. It was designed, engineered and manufactured by ex employees of Rural Pest Control Services after Varmitgetter stopped supply to RPCS in December 2008. Warrenater made a product that used very high quality components that were designed to work in the difficult U.K. conditions. Our research indicates that the Warrenater is a most popular product in the U.K.
